Ideal for sports, news, wildlife and nature photographers. The f/4 aperture and eleven-ended circular diaphragm maximize performance in low-light shooting situations as well as provide large-area control for isolating subjects.
Advanced features support professional needs
With the FULL TIME DMF switch in the ON position, manual focus automatically engages when the focus ring is operated, even in AF-C mode. Built-in Optical SteadyShot image Stabilization includes MODE 2 for pan shots and MODE 3 for dynamic sports or wildlife action. MODE 3 also provides a more stable viewfinder image for easier framing.
Three fluorite elements and one XA (extreme aspheric) element reduce chromatic aberration and color bleeding, while two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements and a Nano AR lens coating reduce flare, ghosting and spherical aberrations, further enhancing performance and image quality for heavy-duty shooting. The front element is protected by a fluorine coating that helps prevent dirt and fingerprints from adhering and makes it easier to wipe if they stick to the lens surface.
The Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS lens' Wide f/4 maximum aperture allows maximum light for shooting in almost any conditions while maintaining depth of field. When changing the aperture to focus the background, areas out of the focal plane appear blurred. This "bokeh" effect of the blurred background can be enhanced by the circular aperture blades used in this lens.
